Goodbye March 🌬
...but first take a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, find a good sofa spot & enjoy 🍸
Good morning, Angels! Good morning, Ruby!
No, this is not another remake of the edgy, women super-power, Hollywood action-comedy. This is a remake of hotel luxury under the group name of Ruby Hotels.
This March, I had a chance to stay at Ruby Mimi hotel in Zurich for about 10 days and I knew I will be writing a little note about the hotel experience and the story behind it. Let’s start with some basics. Ruby Group is a Munich-based hotel group which is breaking luxury philosophy as we know. Focused on so called “lean-luxury” defined by the “prioritised” minimalism, budget-design, affordable prices, automated guest journey and top-notch locations across multiple European cities, Ruby Hotels are setting a new ground of luxury and tech hotel at once. But where does the name come from?
Currently there are around 15 Ruby Hotels across Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria and the UK, and while their family name is '“Ruby”, each hotel carries an individual, symbolic first name. According to their CEO, Michael Struck, name Ruby occurred to him in his sleep. Ruby manifests a beautiful, sensual, intelligent and cheerful women who knows what she wants. And this is how the surname of the following women-hotel was born:
Ruby Lucy (London) - based in Southbanks area known for London’s entertainment and theatre scene carries the name of light “Lucy”
Ruby Mimi (Zurich) - housed in once-upon-a-time Zurich’s first cinemas area, hotel carries a rebellion, Hollywood name of ”Mimi”
Ruby Coco (Düsseldorf) - in the midst of chicest, runaway-street of NRW-capital, “Coco” iconicly manifests THE name of a fashion lifestyle
Ruby Louise (Frankfurt) - named after lady Louise von Rothschild who preserved a sense of English elegance in her husband's town of Frankfurt where she settled her mind on multiple social changes despite coming from a financial empire. Hotel Louse is located just behind Goethestrasse with a very cute roof-top bar overlooking Frankfurt skyline.
My Frankfurt fellas, you know where you will be sipping next Aperol-Spritz 🍸
A legend behind the Italian iconic scooter brand Vespa 🛵
You know that brand is iconic if: 1. Lady Gaga has one, 2. WhatsApp has an emoji of it, 3. Netflix broadcasts it!
This is the story of Vespa (or wasp in English), an iconic Italian scooter, started just after World War 2 and became an evergreen for the Italian design and revolutionary model of transportation. Prior Audrey Hepburn, who took Vespa from a cute, little scooter to the iconic motor design in her “Roman Holiday” movie in 1953, Vespa has been struggling to enter the market as being manufactured by the leftovers of once successful Piaggio airplane factory.
Today there are approximately 150 models of Vespa available in the markets including the icon - Vespa 946 Dior - a contemporary version of 1946 retro model inspired by the sunny-spirt and art of living of both lifestyle houses.
Today, Netflix is broadcasting a beautiful Italian biography of Enrico Piaggio, a father of Vespa, which I can only recommend to watch!
What has been shared on WA in March?
At last, here is a list of March discovers shared across multiple groups on WhatsApp:
🍻 A beer served just next to a champagne? Yup! Noam beer is changing the traditional perception of a beer from its taste to its design and I do like it!
✈️ Introducing beacation by Airbnb with the one of the most impressive commercial ads of 2022 and some good old Beyonce-Jay Z tune.
📸 How about coffee table photo album? A functional everyday product with an aesthetic twist for our lovely homes via Printworks.
Hope you enjoyed my little notes and until next month, cheers!
